When Jacob awoke from his dream of a ladder reaching from earth to heaven, he said: “God is in This Place, and I didn’t even know it! Ma nora HaMakom hazeh! How awesome is This Place!”
HaMakom is a warm and inviting gathering place for exploring Judaism as a spiritual path – a path that offers greater connection to our own hearts and souls, to each other, to the Jewish tradition, and to an awareness of the sacred in the world around us and in our own lives. We are “the place” to step back from the busyness of our daily lives…..to slow down…..take a deep breath…..and re-connect to our own depths and to the depth of our tradition.
HaMakom is a place where we seek to revitalize our sense of the sacred through engaging in Jewish learning and spiritual practice. HaMakom is a place where the multiple paths of authentic Jewish engagement are recognized and honored; where we seek to support and nourish one another on the path of Jewish spiritual growth, though that path may vary for each of us. It’s a place where the Torah of our tradition meets the Torah planted within us.
HaMakom brings people together: for classes, groups of different kinds, special workshops and Shabbat celebrations with guest teachers, all geared toward fostering a holistic, rich, and deep connection with both our Jewish legacy and our inner lives. Working as an independent group, as well as in collaboration with synagogues and other organizations, HaMakom programs are offered to enrich the spiritual lives of Jews and all who wish to learn with us.
